I’ve been thinking about welding the fender skirt (cutting the edge of both the skirt and the quarter) and welding them together so it is smooth and possibly adding a brace inside to strengthen it. It is on a 4 door car so I’m thinking it wouldn’t be to bad to take it off altogether to change tire or in case of a flat. I’ve seen a few this way and wanted to know what some of ideas other have had doing this. I’ve thought about doing just a flush skirt but wanted to be different and plus paint always gets chipped or scratched from movements etc.

  2. I can understand what and why you're thinking this so this would be my approach were it me thinking it. Put the Skirt on the way it belongs, now let all the air out of a rear (not front to cheat). Now in your good close as if you were driving somewhere start removing the quarter panel. Visualize yourself on the shoulder of an Interstate Hwy. While at it make a list of every tool needed to do that job. These will need to live in the car from now on. So now the Quarter panel is off. Where and how are you going to deal with it while making room to change the Flat Tire. While you're at it picture yourself alone with no help, it's dark and raining. Now what are you thinking?
P.S. I never think like normal people either.
