I have a 1949-1953 engine. Regarding the stand pipe below the intake manifold, is it to be say an 1/8" or 1/4" inch above the top of the motor and insert a small amount into the intake or is it to be flush and just come to the top of the motor before you put the intake on? I have had two aftermarket intake manifolds where the hole that was cast is smaller than the stand pipe diameter. The first one I honed open so it would fit but I am not sure that is correct?
The pipe should be higher than the block, protrude through the intake gasket and into the bottom of the intake road draft port. My first post was wrong.
I have already installed a pcv system but i dont see how that changes the interior strand pipe.?I have certainly removed the external blow by pipes however.
The last 2 Pcv systems I did on late flatheads I cut that tube below the intake down. With a rubber grommet I installed the valve in the cut down tube. I tapped the bottom of the intake and plumbed it all from below. Works well when using an early intake on a late engine.
