Thanks for your input! It's always great to exchange opinions on our work...this way, the Kustom culture can always grow and continue over time. We love Kustom transformations in all their forms and nuances; the important thing is to bring good taste. Your idea is excellent...it could definitely look great. However, we had an idea: we significantly altered the car's original lines, lowering, lengthening, cutting, and reconstructing everything a bit...but we still wanted to leave some of the original car's particularities unchanged...and this was, for example, leaving the shape of the rear fenders and their original taillights unchanged, because we think they're very beautiful just as they are. Our fear in altering the rear fenders in the way you described was that the car might then look too similar to a 1949 Chevrolet or a 1949 Buick...but we prefer to keep the Cadillac soul. Long live Kustom in all its forms and ideas as long as they have good final aesthetic taste!
Now I'll reveal a little secret.... before finding and buying this 1949 Cadillac for our Kustom project, we searched for a long time for a 1947/1949 Buick Sedanette....we couldn't find one at the time and opted for another beautiful car...this 1949 Cadillac precisely. But our first love was for the BUICK SEDANETTE!

Is it a defog vent that's going to come up through the door garnish? My best guess. Whatever it is, I'm really happy to see updates on this car still going. EDIT I change my answer, I'm going to now ***ume a door latch is mounting there.
