New to the thread just came up on a 1949 Chevy Business Coupe. Does any one exactly know what was included as far as the trim goes on the 49 Business coupe? Does anyone out there have one?
As fas a trim goes it depends if it was a Special or Deluxe. Looks like you have trim on the top of your rear fenders so I would say Deluxe. However, The guys over at chevytalk.com would be able to give you a better answer than I would. Todd
Thanks for the input, the only reason why I ask because the research that I've done says its a Styleline Special.
a Styline Special business coupe has no back seat. it will also have rubber instead of chrome gravel shields on the rear fenders. the rear side windows do not slide back. if you have a back seat you have a "Styline Special Sport Coupe" judging by the trim you have on your car. a Styline Deluxe has trim around the side and back windows, as well as a spear on the fender/door and a deluxe emblem. rear side windows slide back about 3", and your interior garnish mouldings have a chrome strip along the bottom where the specials do not., all 49 and 50's had the trim on top of the fender.
Rear windows do not slide back. Interesting...the numbers on my car match to a Business Coupe but the whole back seat thing is throwing me off. So was there a spear on the front fenders? Also I have an antenna on the right side and all pictures that i've seen on this year are on the left. Super helpful insight 49ratfink.
So was there a spear on the front fenders? only on the Deluxe, no spear on the Specials. as for the antenna, they were installed at the dealer, as were the radios. so I suppose they could have been installed on either side.
they were the stripped models only had the chrome belt mouldings has 49ratfink said they had rubber gravel mouldings they were know has the salesman coupes with the fix back window,s but some were ordered with back seats and some that i,ve seen thier package self was extened and the spare was in back of the driver,s seat for more room in the trunk most of them came without a radio but if you wanted one the dealer would put it in but stock the radio ant. was on the left so the driver could adjust by just openning the door the great thing back then is you order a car the way you wanted it so a cheap model could have all the options and a top of the line model would came without a radio .car look great have fun with it
Right on guys, all of this insight has been great. The whole back seat thing was throwing me off. Mine has a spare in the back, with a radio, antenna on right side. I will find the truth out this winter when I rip into her. She will end up with a satin finish and Lexus pearl top or maybe just a metal top. I will keep the Hamb updated in hopes to get more feed back upon the mysteries of the business coupe.
hi mate, ive just bought 1 of these from cali, i am in liverpool england am restoring her, checkout my post with pics,
My first love is for the Fleetlines but those small top business coupes come in a close second. They really look great when the top is chopped an inch or so more in the rear than the front. Check out the attached photo.
