Hi everyone, I've been reading here for awhile but just recently bought a 49 chevy p/u, solid frame and body, original 235 4speed.... so I've officially joined to see all the tricks and get some help. I've got some good friends already who've steered me right so I hope this build goes well, hope to have it all done by next summer..2013, getting hitched in 4 months so i won't have much time to work on it, plus i race a 08 American Dragster 598ci, 7.50 e.t. bracket car so I have alot on my plate but i've always wanted a dropped p/u rat..... hope to be reading some good stuff soon

I have a few laying around, but for now a mouse will do... 235 is what i'm liking, i'll keep my rat motors for the dragster...

no, i don't really know if its stock. In my world a rat is a big block, sorry. I know some don't like that term so I'll remove it from my vocabulary on this forum. On other forums pertaining to dragracing we talk about rats as big ole stupid blocks...... anywho, I'll do some searching and see what the engine really is. i haven't had it long so I'm still finding out alot. I'd like to find the thread that talks about this era suspension builds with pictures. I have alot of ideas on what i want to do, just don't want to reinvent the wheel.

  11. you can look at the heads and if the bolts are down the top of the valve covers I believe its a Babbitt, and I believe there is a triangle plate below the intake manifold.
