I have a chance to pick up a 1949 Dodge truck that ia a little rough. Does anyone know a source for sheet metal and what years are interchangable?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

I had a 48, but could only find parts on ebay. The hardest part was finding trim. Those parts are very rare and hard to find.

I did a 47 and found the same thing, it's eBay or nothing for pretty much anything you may need. Unless the price is real cheap I'd save for a better starting point.

The following info applies to everything except a coe, they are by themselves.
Front fenders fit 48-53, 1/2 tons are the same, and bigger then 1/2 tons are the same, all bolt on, but the wheel openings are different, all rust out at the fender to firewall mounting plate. The nose piece interchanges 48-53, but the grill openings are shaped different 48-50 same, then 51-53 same. Cabs are the same across the board, 48-53. Hoods interchange 48-53, but the earlier ones have hood ornaments the later models didn't have (missing the holes). For the record, 54 was the first year for the one piece windshield and they are different cabs & front sheet metal.
Dodge made 4 step side box versions between 48-52, standard box, low sides: standard box, high sides: long box short sides: and long box, high sides. 53 has different rear fenders so there are different fender bolt hole locations. Other then the fender bolt hole locations, the box sides are the same as earlier. The 53 rear fenders fit through 81 or 82. Box sides changed slightly in 56/57 and again around 60, then remained unchanged through the end of step side production in the early 80s. Box cross members changed in 60 and again in 71/72.

52 was one of the highest truck production years in Dodge history, they are easier to find for parts. Also, don't assume the model year listed on your title matches all the parts on your truck. My 50 titled truck had a 52 nose & fenders on it since the very early 60s, according to the original owner that owned both trucks. Gene
