Well, my apologies ahead of time, as this is probably my ~5th post or so on this subject, but just still cannot figure it out.
    What I have:
    1949 Ford Coupe
    8BA flathead V8
    1951 three speed OD trans
Leaving it (3) on the tree
Just cannot get the shifting as well as clutch linkage to work.
When the shift linkage is hooked up (I think correctly) the clutch "U" shaped part of the linkage is in the way of the other rods and just will not work. Also the rod linkage for the clutch seems to be ~(3) or so inches short...I believe I have the proper pieces, but who knows what I really have.
What I need is not a diagram, but an actual picture or pictures of a working set up like I have.
    Thanks in advance...
    Bob !
Thanks in advance for any help.

Don’t know how important this detail is but the boss on the shifter housing (side cover of the transmission) sticks out a bit further on the 1951 shifter housing than the 49-50 covers. Also, the shifter rods coming down from the steering column are different than the 49-50 types. I guess it’s possible that you have a mismatch with these parts. The 1951 transmission can be used in a 49-50 car but I think you’d need to put the 49-50 shifter housing on the 1951 transmission. The only possible fly in the ointment would be that the 49-50 shifter housings had a different cam/shaft on the low/reverse side if that housing came from a Non-overdrive transmission. It’s easy to correct that by replacing the cam/shaft with the OD type.
