Dan's surgery is today, as Brock said, he's surrounded by friends that came down from Bakersfield, as well as some locals in so-cal. Keep him in your thoughts for the procedure to go well today!

Hi for those of you that dont know who I am, My name is Dave Chavez I want to squash all those rumors put out there by all those hacking hens...I was the driver on the day of 10/10/10. What a ironic date that was but on this day I was driving my 49 shoebox with my buddy Dan when I fell asleep at the wheel and crashed in the back of a parked semi hooked to a full size trailer.
I wanted to to give every one a brief run down on what my weekend was like with my friend Dan. It starts off with the car and my clutch plate going out. And me stressing out because I wanted it to be at this years Hot Rod Drag show (with Dan) in Bakersfield. Dan and I got off work around 3 Fri afternoon he and I started pulling my trani out. Once out at 8 pm I drove us out from Bellflower to Rialto to Trani Johns house and from there John knew how stressed out I was that my car was torn apart so he did me the FAVOR and rebuilt it right there infront of my eyes...That it self was amazing, once done at 4 in the AM I drove Dan home were he once again had to be at work at 5Am Sat morning and I was off to the house and got Very little sleep.
When Dan came home around 1 pm and he called me and asked were I was and to get my ASS over to his house so we could get my car on the road again. OK So I did and at 8 pm we finished!!! from there I took it out on a Date....GREAT TIME!!! and came home at 5 AM sunday. Again another limited day of sleep. But later that day Dan and I went to a car show in the Lakewood area were I had wonbest of show....the rest I hope is self explainatory by the pic...I was driving Dan home and I fell asleep and dont remember anything else. Please help join the up coming car show John is putting on and be a part of this benifit for the sake of Dan and his wife Jen. Dan is layed up for at least 5 months and will need all the help we can give him...As every one can see that since I meeting Dan he has been truly an amazing freind going to endless amounts of effort just to help another friend...The great part about him is (he does not even think twice about helping a bro)...The Brother is a true friend to all he comes in contact with....There you have it so Any Questions ask me or Dan..DONT ASUME!!

for not looking like the car had seat belts, both are lucky to be alive. it turns your stomach to see the amount of damage... that passenger side is horrific looking... if they were both asleep it might be why they survived, their bodies were not tensed up..

Spoke with Ren (Dan) today and he is doing well after the surgery, he is of course in pain but otherwise well.

He got out of bed into a wheel chair today and anyone that has spent time stuck in bed knows how great it is to be mobile again even if it is in a chair. I am sure Ren will find some enterprising way to kustomize his chair.....

  18. Its truly amazing and a blessing that you both came out of that wreck alive.
I dont know either of you...just know that we are all in this hobby as a family.
I only know the car from Sacramento and seeing the publications.
    No assumptions on my end.
Just happy that the 2 of you are alive and on the road to healing.
Any help needed... Just let me know.

Hope all is well and wish you guys the best of luck! hopefully had some insurance to cover the car and some of the hospital bills!

if everyone on the hamb paypals $1 lousy dollar it would be around a 100 grand i believe! that should cover his time out of work and some of his doctor bills! im pretty broke myself but hey im sure he would appreciate a dollar from a stranger on the other side of the country to help in hard times! and for those of you who have it pay a few extra to cover those who cant give much!

Lynwood at Brad Mastersons shop (the old Barris shop) We will be actioning art work off there, and from there we will be having live music about 8 doors down the street at the same bar that Dean Jeffries and Von Dutch used to drink at. And the bar is still pretty much the same way it was back then. Cars will park in the back of the bar were the bands will be playing. $5.00 to get in.... REMEMBER ALL DONATIONS GO DIRECTLY TO Dan!

  24. Hi All,

Dan and Dave...We don't know each other, but I had a crash with my 38 Chevy Coupe a bunch of years ago. It was certainly not as bad of an accident and there were no injuries other than my pride, but I had friends who really helped me out that day...I wish I had the HAMB back then. This is a great tribute to this group of people. It is very inspiring that so many have stepped forth to help at the time when you need it most. I'm very proud to be a part of this family and I'll have a donation on the way today as well......GET WELL SOON!!!
