Projects 1949 Ford F68

I recently purchased a '49 and was doing some clean up and checking things out. I've also been researching some stuff about the old Ford and Mercury trucks and haven't come across anything that has a ink stamped date on the firewall. A close friend and I both bought a project truck , his is a '50 Mercury M68. My '49 has a date stamp of Nov 21 1949, his has what appears to be May 6 or 8 1950. Both have a serial plate on the firewall and decode to a Windsor Ontario build. Could it be a date of manufacture?? Thanks!
