Anybody have any pics of these cars rodded?I`m going look at one today.I can pic it up cheep, cheep.Would make a neat drag car. fitzee
Ran a Sunbeam tiger at one time. Couldn't launch it straight or steer it when on the throttle. That thing looks even worse! Like to try it once tho, just for the pucker factor!
Wait until I get home from campus, I've got a fifties article of an older Hillman ('46 convertible, I think) with a '48 Merc flathead adapted to the Hillman 4-speed. Crazy weird.
That pic is so cool.I love the short wheel base drag cars.I was looking at the Hillman.it was a 4 door and has been cut up and turned into a 2 door.Don`t look right but that can be changed.I`m going to pic it up for $200.When I get it home I`ll figure out what to do with the body on it.I have been gathing parts for a drag car for a few years now,had plans of putting it all in a 76 Chevette,Had one befor with a SBC in it,But losing interest in the chevette idea,Smart man!!and want to build a gaser type car.Have a solid front axle as well as a set of shorten axles wating for a project.Think this might be the one. fitzee
I guess I must've taken it home, bummer. I think it was the same issue that had the street rod '41 Willys with the tripower 292 SBC.
I have "Them!" on DVD. I make all my friends watch it at least once, I love it. My dad watched the whole movie through his coat sleeve (when he was little)! Trivia tidbit: Did you know that the ants were actually green and purple as they had originally intended to film in color?
This may help a little...1949 Hillman That Gasser shot looks like a Hillman Californian to me. My Dad had a 1953 Hillman Florida convertible in 1972 that he used to tow his racing Mini with. Those were the days 1951 Convertible Someone's fond memories Californian Pix Cheers, C
Cruisin, If you have an urge to recreate your Dad's convertible, I read the other day that the Californian is just a convertible with a "bolt-on" hardtop. Also, some friends of ours were at Horopito the other day and saw a restorable Californian parked outside and probably for sale Fitzee, There was a neat Hillman station wagon built up gasser style in California in the seventies. It was in the Best of Hot Rod book. It was the same shape as this one ... http://www.gassermadness.com/forsale/sold/hillman/index.html
