    Taillights are uninspiring. Maybe use 1954 Chevy as top peak leads back to fender trim and allows you to get rid of ugly back up lights
     
  5. I have some rough original 54 Chevy tail light bezels leftover from my 53 Bel Air I can use for mockup
     
  6. So back from the depths we me actually get started on this soon. He found a th350 and a 305 for mockup we're going to go pickup. He acts like he kinda just wants to use the 305 but I'm going to try to protect him from himself lol. Next week or so we're going to drag it out to spray it off then turn it around and begin teardown. The slow schedule is the result of his son being born a few months ago. Side benefit is his new son is motivation for him to get going on it lol.

    A 394 Rocket motor would be the traditional upgrade for a 49 Olds. Free up the 6 and keep looking for a 394.
     
  8. He's not going to run the six.... even if all it is is a rust ring holding it solid. Already established the original drivetrain will not accomplish his needs for the car. Every every olds ohv we looked at was overpriced, needed way too much work, or seller didn't bother messaging back. And would need an adapter for a modern trans
