This one is owned by Bill Daniels from SW Missouri. One of the nicest guys I have met in this old car hobby. He bought my 60 Thunderbird a few months back.

    Back at it…

Cut and buffed the tailgate and all went well so I’m cutting the rest of the body for buffing…

The cutting/buffing is done. It still needs a final hand polish, but I’ll do that when it’s all back together…

  14. Ok, so we have utility gray on a utility vehicle to do utility work. Did I get that right? :)

It’s hard for even myself to figure out how I choose a color for a car. All I can say is when I get a vision for a completed car something just seems to click. When I first started the build it was going to be a full on custom. As I got the roof, quarters and tailgate roughed in I started having thoughts of “what if Ford had introduced the Ranchero in 1949?” I decided there was already enough “customization” in it and that’s what it’s going to be. Now it needed to look kind of original with a few personal touches. Hence some sort of unassuming original style of color and grey is kind of popular right now. I’d describe the car as subtle…google definition - (of a mixture or effect) delicately complex and understated. It’ll be fun listening to some gawkers discussing wether there really was such a car. I’m sure someone’s dad/grandpa had one just like it. It’s all going to be fun and that’s what this hobby should be all about. Yet to come are mirrors, side moldings, and some mild pinstriping. I’ll keep you updated.

  17. The color choice is perfect. Many old Fords I call dignified and are worthy of wearing a dignified color. Yours is a good background for some nice pinstriping.

  18. Your choice is just perfect and speaks understatement. not easy after all your damn fine work to keep it simple in the color theme. well done, sir!

It’s all together! I still need to decide on some mirrors, but it’s time to fill the tank (ouch) and put some miles on it when the weather improves. Time to enjoy it…
