Wow, what a great thread. I just powered through all 24 pages of it today. I guess I never visit the Custom forum, so I never saw it till today; but I missed a lot. Excellent job man, it looks fantastic!

Very few threads go 25 pages, plus end up with an amazing Ranchero build to boot. Great job.

It's gonna be painful at the gas station, but that's the price of admission for driving a truly Bitchin' custom... nicely done, it looks fantastic!!!

Thank you for all the comments. It’s been a fun journey. I hope to drive the wheels off it this summer.

Here’s some outside pics from before we got snow again. Went and filled with gas and had about a 10 mile cruise. Felt good. I wish the weather would straighten out.

You know, that's pretty doggone spectacular. I like the hinge covers and license plate surround, it looks like Ford built it that way.
So, now that you have time on your hands, how about building a sedan delivery version to go with it?

Was the chopped top a factory option on the 49 Ranchero?:p:D

  10. Quietly understated. The top chop is the only thing that makes you think this wasn't factory. It's been fun watching. Thanks for taking me along. Even though I didn't get beer or pizza. LOL.

This is the best build on the HAMB all 25 pages.

  15. Beautiful factory special! I think the hinge covers lend it the right amount of “utility” as Ford would have done it back in the day. Absolutely love the color, too.

After much thought and deliberation, I permanently mounted the 3” peep mirrors I had purchased a long time ago for the car. I couldn’t mount them the traditional way because the gaps were too tight. So I removed the screw on base, ground off the locking edge, drilled a hole in the door flange and mounted with a stainless machine screw. Done deal…

  17. I know that hurt you to drill those holes. It was the right decision. A couple of beers will help the pain. :)

All the lines on Your build flow beautiful. The rear corners on the top of the cab round smoothly . The way the tailgate leans forward and the way the bedsides just rise up from the rear quarters . WOW beautiful

  21. I have peeps on my car. It took a little getting used to using them, but I like them.

WOW, what an incredible build! I just went through every page of this and was in awe every step of the way. Very good design and execution, fantastic talent. I am a diehard shoebox fan and there's not a thing I would have done differently. Well done.

Winter just wouldn’t quit in ND this year. Finally able to put some miles on the Ranchero. Cruises real nice. Fun to drive. Here it is this week at a biweekly lunch gathering 20 miles away.

Just a gorgeous build! Well conceived and executed. Far nicer than the examples shared throughout the thread of other attempts at a Shoebox Ranchero. Your Shoebox Ranchero is understated, yet elegant.

Abercrombie. We meet every other Wednesday at the Fort Saloon for lunch. Anywhere from 10 to 30 people. Good times.
