I have a 1950 buick super sedan yeah yeah anyway I have a cracked exhaust manifold and my intake manifold isn't the gravest it is a single carb since it's a 50, will a dual carb intake and exhaust manifold off a early 40s buick fit on a 263 straight 8, then do you still run the factory Strindberg aero type carbs?

Mine had Stromburgs. Kind of a bigger 97. One was complete and one was a secondary type with only the main circuits. It had an air valve below it so that it only came online when needed.

Right now it's has factory single carb Stromberg areotype, if I replace manifolds might as well make it dual carb dual exhaust just need to know what will fit

The manifolds will fit, as long as they're from the 248 cubic inch version. The larger compound carburetion setup from the 320 ci engines will not fit.

If I recall correctly, you'll need to check for interference with front exhaust manifold outlet and the left motor mount. The '49 and later use a side mount that wasn't a factor on the original '41/'42 model installation.

    Here's the setup on a side-mount block.

Ebbsspeed...that looks beautiful! Is the mount shortened to fit under the manifold or does it just require a tight bend on the pipe to clear?

What carbs are you using, and are they modified for this application? Reason I ask, is I am building a 263 and have a set of these manifolds.

    Regards,
    Ray

The picture was copied from a web site.

I'm building the intake and exhaust for my own 263, but haven't gotten very far with it yet.

on my 48 super I ran the dual intake. yes it will fit 248 & 263. the to fix the motor mount clearance issue I lowered the mount so its bolted to the motor using 2 bolts instead of 4. this will give you tight, but enough clearance.
I ran 97s and they ran like shit most the time. I would rock 2 aerotypes if you can!! I even used most the factory linkage from the pedal up and welded a small bracket to the firewall around the carbs height for leverage strength

This is my factory 41 buick special dual carb set up all original , just sold it and made a 3 holley 94 intake set up with headers . I made and did everything myself . With the factory duals your gas pedal is the progressive linkage and make sure all the exhast flappers plus the rear carb spacer flapper moves freely - I used lock ease on mine ( mineral spirits and graphite mixed) . I have some post on here with input on this set up , I ran mine for over 10 years with only flipping the leather accelerator pump inside the carbs . Goodluck

Also did find out I didnt have a. Thermostat in the engine ( I had cars inc. Rebuild my waterpump) I was always told with the straight eights exhaust manifolds cracking was constant engine temp not being maintained . So when I built this set up on mine I put a sbc 160 degree thermostat with a 1/8" hole drilled off to the side . I can tell already it acts alot different because it builds heat everywhere not just in the manifolds and lower block . There is also a bypass set up in the thermostat housing which has a brass cotter key that is something to check too . Goodluck once again
