Okay, the project is finally underway!!!! My 1950 3100 Pick Up has been taken apart and, whenever it starts getting put together it's going on an s-10. It's also getting a new engine and trans.
So now I've got a complete rolling ch***is and Drivetrain. I'm told that the engine will start and run with a little tinkering, both from the person I bought it from, and my mechanic friend.
The frame is in good shape with no crazy rusting, and the engine and trans are original numbers matching.
So my question now is, are they worth anything, and is anyone interested?
    Thanks for the help!

The motor is probably a 216 and the ****** is for the torque tube drive shaft. Not worth much and unfortunately IS numbers matching. Unless you are going back stock that set up is pretty lame for street and since you are going S10 (gezz another one) you cannot use them anyway. I suggest you post them for sale/free on another site dedicated to that model truck like stovebolt.com or post it on your local craigslist. They are not worth much..in my opinion.

I hop eyou have looked into the S10 swap. It is not as simple as taking it off the original frame and putting it on the new one. Using an IFS kit on the stock frame would be better..again in my opinion.

Many old trucks have cracks in the cab, not many old Chevys though. Look carefully at how the cab mounts. The stock frame has a neat battery mount too. Brake boosters and master cylinders look tacky as **** mounted on the firewall in an engine compartment with this size an shape (my opinion). The ch***is is worth about the same as a trip to a decent steak house. Think REAL hard before you chuck it.

It's funny how some people like the swap and some don't. But this will be a daily driving shop truck that will average around 100 miles a day. I don't want to run around that much on a nearly 60 year old truck and engine. So I am doing the swap, and don't have a reason to keep the originals laying around. Chappys4life, the truck was actually purchased in Richmond and never left there, until I brought it to Williamsburg a couple months back. If you are interested in bringing at least part of it back to Richmond, let me know.
I have a lot of, what I think will be unique ideas for the "new" truck. But I'll share them as they actually come together.
    Thanks for the help.

  7. you're doing the right thing! "build them the way you want them"
I'm building a 7 day a week daily driver work truck. but I want all the joys of an old truck, you know hard riding, slow turning, weak brakes, bad wipers and heater

Make sure you keep the shackle style cab mounts off of the frame. You'll use them on the S10. Also, make sure you move the motor back in the S10 frame so you've got room for stuff. And get the 4x4 rear or other wider rear end. You'll never get the bed to fit over a stock 4x2 S10 rear.

Plenty of posts on here all about it. Do what you want, the way you want. Frame and engine isn't worth that much but you never know. $250 is about right for me, if it is a runner.
