I want to change my 1950 chevy deluxe over to 12v and i know I need a 12v coil, but what else. Can I use the 6v starter, condenser, points?

If you go to stovebolt.com and look in the "tech tips" there's a step-by-step article on how to do this.

Most guys that do this keep the 6 volt starter, it'll handle the voltage as long as you don't crank on it too long, and it will spin over faster to start easier. You'll need to swap all the bulbs to 12 volt, use a Runtz resistor for the gas gauge, radio, and heater blower motor, or swap in a 12 volt blower motor. Generator or alternator? We kept ours with a generator to keep it looking stock. I just gave away a newly rebuilt 6 volt generator that was converted to 12 volt, it even had the wide pulley, to a fella in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He got a deal, for shipping only; I was tired of moving it around the garage, or bumping into it, so away it went. Also, go over to ChevyTalk.Org, to the 49-54 forum. Be sure to look a the stickies at the top of the forum. There's all the info you need about upgrading to 12 volts. Butch/56sedandelivery.
