great man, actually the 54 uprights will lower the car 7/8 of an inch. still worth doing though

Those lower a-arms have the bolted lower plate, you could space that out from the arm itself to lower some as well (unless you just planned on the late model uprights and springs). The earlier ones have the one-piece stamped deelies that I ended up stepping.

This weekend the used parts gods smiled on me and a set of Fatman dropped uprights popped up on FB so I nabbed those...I can put my stock arms back on with these uprights and regain some of my camber/caster adjustment...the way I have it set up currently I'm maxed out.

How low are you planning to go?

Bit of a detour, but came across a picture of the shop across the street. Still in the same family, bunch of old cars always in and out for service. Still mounting white walls. ;)

Also, not many updates these days. Just been driving it!
    Out for coffee.

Still getting a feeling for the car, and building some trust with it. We did an 80 mile round trip to the Jalopy Jam Up back in August.

And pulled a 120 mile trip going no where really at all.

I'm sentimental, and the fact that I've been able to make memories as a family with this car... I already know it's going to hold a spot near and dear to me.

Dusting this thread off with some more pictures. This past winter, I did... absolutely nothing on the Chevy. The 54 front clip sat exactly where I dropped it on the shop floor.

My son was born mid-December with a condition called Craniosynostosis which required neurosurgery at two months of age. He's healthy and recovering well, though most of the winter was dedicated to time with the family a****st multiple doctors appointments.

I didn't get around to getting the car out of the garage until mid-May... my daughter Maple helped me give it a wash and get it cleaned up.

Every year for my birthday over the past 15 or so years, my mom has gotten a DQ ice cream cake that marked some sort of milestone from that year. While I actually had the Bel Air ahead of my birthday last year, my mom didn't know about it at the time. So it was the feature for my birthday in late May.

My club, the S.O.B.s (Southern Ontario Bangers) was the featured club for a show this past Sunday of Canada Day weekend. Spent a few nights in the garage checking things over, topping up fluids and making sure the car was ready, as this would be our first trip as a family of four. Of course, you have to go for a late night blast to make sure everything is ready. Felt good to be back behind the wheel.

Next day, we were loaded up. The trunk holds everything we needed for a baby, a toddler and a day at the park... clothes, snacks, a wagon, toys, you name it. Two kids strapped in the back seat, and off we went!

64 miles down to the show, and the car ran great. Turn out was great, with a number of good looking cars... though I didn't manage to take a picture of a single one. Having kids will do that I guess.
Maple did test out all of my club brothers' cars, and my son Noble got behind the wheel too. It'll be a few more years before either of them can reach the pedals though.

63 miles home that evening and again, the car ran great... until we ran out of gas less than a mile from the house.

Maple loves going for rides in 'the Black Car' so of course I used that as an excuse to go for ice cream a few days later. Been making family memories... exactly what I bought the car to do.
