Hi all! Mike from SC. I just got a 1950 chevy 2 dr shell, decent shape and am looking to build a rat. I am actually buying another original 50 that has been stored for 25 years when the guy gets back next month. Not a purist, at least not on a car like this. An original 68 camaro or 50 Chevy should stay original, but not a shell. I look forward to learning more from you all. Not too many skills, but a want and need to learn.
Welcome! You'll find lots of info on here for your car. Use the search function and you'll find tons of stuff about nearly everything....brakes, suspension, engine options...the works. And what's not already here, there are tons of people who know tons of stuff.
i have a 50 chevy business coupe that I'm go to custom rod out. can't wait until warm weather get here in kentucky,to get started. got a 50 olds grille to go in it, I like the old rolled and tucked interior, like they did in the 50's........maybe a 383 chevy stroker mill to move it down the road. what do you think???????????
sounds great! am using a pontiac bb 400 (given to me with only 5k since rebuild, may as well use it) th400 and mexican blanket interior.
Glad to see another 50 Chevy in the house of HAMB. Welcome. Perhaps with a little time on the board, we can sway you away from the rat and mexican blankets toward the more traditional kustom ... mmmm... tuck and roll. So is it a business coupe or a sedan? Again, Welcome.
it is a 50 sedan and eventually I will turn it to a "nice" ride! Gonna get her running and play with it over the next little bit (years). $$$. I look at it like this, I have a 50 chevy, the rat phase is really cool and i can come back and make it better later if that is the direction life takes the car. I just love and have always wanted a 50. I have had various show cars and worried too much every time they were driven whether or not it would get scratched or dented....
