I have a chance to buy the inner splash panels for the front fenders of a 1951 Chevy Deluxe 4 door car and was wondering if these will fit my 1950 Sedan Delivery. They look close, but I wanted an expert opinion. I don't know where to look for this part interchangeability. I sure hope someone knows this answer.
well, that would depend on your definition of inner splash panels. not all front sheet metal parts interchange from 50 to 51
this is where I'd look. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/parts/1929_54/index.htm page 54 has the exploded view of the front end, so you get the Group numbers there, then look up each part, and see what years and models it fits.
When I was just a young fella and lived in a rural area, I had the misfortune to hit a cow with my '51 Chevy Bel Air. Pretty hard on the front clip. A buddy had a '50 sedan parts car and I got the whole clip from that and bolted it onto my '51. Everything fit just perfect as a complete unit. Just the wrong color. My point is, I would grab those inner fenders while you can, especially if they are inexpensive. The probability is, I believe, that if there are any differences, they will be very minor and easily dealt with. Ray
