I recently took my door vents apart and getting ready to put them back together I primed the frames is that good enough or should I paint more over it?

Second I need to put the small brackets back on that require the tubular rivets I got the rivets but how should I go about pressing them on? 20200406_174020.jpeg 20200408_152003.jpeg

Primer is porous, I would apply some paint.
