Trying to get the stance right and I think we did. Trevor and Saul came over this morning and we installed a 2" lowering block kit on the rear. I'm a couple of weeks away from getting the green light from the foot surgeon but I am trying to do what I can to get closer to making some extended shake down runs.
I'm not going to make it this year. Work stuff has me tied up with a bunch of projects but shooting for the 500 in the spring for sure. Hopefully will make the drive in this old heap!
Well it's been a little while since I have been able to work on the car due to some health issues. Hopefully those are coming to an end and I can get back out in the shop. I need to do some patching on the inner fender on the passenger side beneath where the battery sits. Then get the front sheet metal all back together and the a/c condenser mounted.
I know I´m late to the party to tell you you´ve done a great job saving this( these) sedan deliver(y)ies. I´m sure most would have thrown in the towel. I would have. Congrats and have fun!
Hey Rabbit....PM sent...... So I have a tire question, and maybe I should start a new thread on it, but I will throw it in here and see how it shakes out.... Question is......I currently have 205/75R15s on my car. I am going to be aquiring a set of wide whites to set this car on. I want to fill up the rear fender wells as much as possible without taking the chance of rubbing and digging into the tires. I also want something a bit wider. The question is, what would be the best size tire to accomplish this, and also something a bit wider than what is on there now. The wheels I will be using are pretty much stock wheels. I Don't know the backspacing and/or width of the wheels at this point. Any input would be great! Thanks in advance!
Robin, do you have room both sides of the tire now? I assume you are wanting taller and wider? Or, just wider? Also, sounds like you will be changing wheels too?
Look under the car to measure much room you have, both fender lip and inner fender or spring clearance. You could go on a major tire web site to compare tire size charts; the sectional width dimension is most likely what will decide how big you can make fit.
Yes but just using steel wheels...nothing special on the wheels that i can see. I want something wider, but not sure how much taller i want to go if any, or if i have to. We installed some lowering blocks a few months ago on the rear.
The tires you have on it are basically 8” wide and 27” tall. I’m thinking the height seems about right and betting that you can’t get much more than a 9” tire under there. A 235/70/15 would get you a 9.25” wide tire that is 28” tall. That could maybe work?
THAT is exactly what I was thinking, not knowing much about all this..... @trevorsworth I think we had it spot on earlier today.
Thanks as always for your input Jeff. @Lone Star Mopar brought me some A fenders, front and rear, and a sandblast cabinet free gratis, and I hooked him up with some 235/261 motor mounts, sort of. These came from Buffalo Engineering that I bought years ago. I can't recall what I did with the rudimentary instruction sheet so it's a bit of a puzzle, but hopefully it has what he needs to get some motor mounts engineered. Right now it's a box full of pieces of plate steel drilled and shaped wanting to be motor mounts. Maybe those fenders can go on one of Trevor's projects. I'm sure we can work out some kind of deal!
Body filler does not adhere to brass very good. It tends to bubble over time. If you do be sure to get all the flux off and abrade it well. The voice of experience
I walked into a body shop in 55 when I was 13 to get my mother ironing board fixed and never left still fool with old cars. Frank
