Does anybody know the width of a 1950 desoto sportsman custom rearend between the backing plates? Also what gear ratio is it and finally would the rearend be strong enough to handle500 h.p. thanks in advance David
Rear tread width 59 9/16. If you want to know the width of your rear axle why not take a tape measure and measure it? Gear ratio 3.9:1. No it will not be strong enough for 500HP.
