    Hi All,
I am new to this site and looking for a little help / information. I just got a 1950 3600 (3/4 ton) chevy pickup, that has 8 lug wheels. I would like to retain as much of the originality as possible while doing some upgrades.

One of the upgrades I would like to do is change the differential gear ratio to something like a 4.11 or 4.10 in order to get better top end speeds. I am currently at about 45 mph or so.

I have seen some links that suggested using a gear set out of 67-72 G30 (1 ton) van with an automatic. I like the idea that I would be able to do a direct exchange of gearsets. At least that is what I understand.

Other possibilities would be changing the ring and pinion set but I have not seen anything for 3600 series trucks. Has anyone use a two speed differential? Just a thought.
    Thanks everyone.

I think that your truck uses an Eaton HO-72 rear axle, and you can find 4.10 center sections in later 3/4 ton trucks up to 1972.
