so... the car is still 6 volt.. i know i need to change it to 12 but for now i gotta go with what i got. the generator isnt charging the batt.. with the car running if i put a volt meter to the batt i get 6.2-6.4v the voltage regulator at the B terminal i get the same then on the A terminal from the generator i get 8.1-9.6v so it all seems to be working ????? but the amp meter in the car says its not charging & if i turn the lights on it goes to discharge what could be the problem any ideas?

  2. If your car goes to discharge on the amp guage, then it would be clear to me that the battery is not being charged.

The regulator when sensing a load (usually goes to ground) will close to allow your generator to start or continue to charge your battery.

Have you tried to re-polarize your generator?

Have you tested your regulator or swaped it out to see if it may be the problem?

When was the last time you checked your brushes in your generator?

Do you oil your Generator to ensure the bearings are properly lubed.

havent tried to repolarize it yet.. testing with an amp meter the regulator seems to be working fine.. it has 8.5-9.6 going in to it
& 6.3 coming out.. its droping the voltage & the same power comin out of it is what is at my batt.. the brushes have maybe 300 miles max on em & yes i oil the generator

i have a spare generator with brand new brushes ima have to try puttin it on tomorrow if repolarizing it dosnt work

    thanks for the fast response
