They didn't use fuses, they had circuit breakers. I think there are 2 up under the dash in little metal boxes. There may be one on the light switch but usually headlights are not fused.

Later..... I checked and there is a 30 amp breaker between the ammeter (power source) and light switch. One wire from the light switch goes to the high/low beam switch on the floor and from there, 2 wires go to the front of the car and one to the high beam indicator. There is no relay.

The hi/low beam switch on the floor is a common cause of problems, it gets soaked in water mud and sand and quits working or the wires rot off. Roll back the carpet and there it is.

Rusty is right . i rewired mine from scratch. I suggest lookin at the terminal blocks on the rad support. Lots of connections to fail there.

Could also be a 30 Amp switch built into the light switch. This is not an SAE fuse it is longer about 1/4 inch longer than regular auto fuses, and not commonly available at parts stores. I picked up a box of 4 at Radio Shack years ago. Check with an appliance repair shop if you have one in your area.

Also I have repowered the brake switch on mine to take the load of the brake lights away from that fuse / breaker. A independent 12 gauge wire with an inline fuse holder (I used 20 AMP) runs from the large terminal on the battery side of the solenoid (HOT all the time) to the brake light switch terminal, I taped off the original wire labeled it and abandoned it in place. Now you don't have to worry about the brake light pulling down the headlamp circuit at night waiting for a long traffic light.
