Anyone have good ideas on how to get the intake valve guide with seal into the block without messing up seal? I just took them out of the freezer from over night hoping the seals would contract. Not enough luck. Still won't slide in. Thanks!

I have built many flathead engines using the intake seals and just "dunk the entire seal and guide into an OILY BATH" and then just install them in the block normally while they are dripping wet and have never experienced any trouble with them chafing or cutting; too much oil will not hurt anything except just lube the valve and guide. If the excess oil bothers you, just wipe out the excess or simply turn block upside down forcing the excess oil to drain or drip out of the intake tract.I don't see where the problem is?

I use a very thin coat of RTV. Works great.
