Is there a modern upgrade for a 1950 Ford car idler arm that won't require a lot of modifications? Thanks

This kit works great and is not expensive. I installed one in my 51 Merc. I bought mine from Shoebox Central. If they aren’t selling them you can buy them from Jamco in California.

Be careful here. There was a thread on "The Ford Barn" a week or two ago about these not being as good as they once were. It seems that they used an AMC idler arm that is no longer available, and a Corvette item has been subs***uted in current production that causes fitment problems.

    Do your research.

I bought this Ford steering linkage upgrade kit for my 1950 Ford coupe from Shoebox Central aprx. 5 years ago. It was easy to install and it REALY corrected the bump steer problem ***ociated with the original linkage set up. I recall that I had to remove a grease fitting on one of the tie rod ends after greasing it because it would rub on the oil pan. I no longer worry about hitting bumps in the road and then a telephone pole!
