Im restoring a 1950 2 dr sedan. Problem is, the car is dissasembled when i got it. No visible color, all blasted away. So my question is, can anyone get a color cofe from the numbers stamped in the cowl? My numbers are RH D70 8 43 23L2146 any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey ibuild4u2, Here's my decoding of the 1950 Ford Cowl Code you've given, based on Ford factory information which I have: RH - Richmond, California ***embly plant D70 - DeLuxe Tudor model 8 - if a true "8", Palisade Green paint; if a true "B", Black paint 43 - DeLuxe Mohair interior 23 - Wednesday, November 23, 1949 ***embly date L - November 2146 - Possibly a code indicating this car was made to a particular dealer's order We're preparing to post a complete "1949 - 1953 Shoebox-Era Ford Identifier" over on the www.shoebox-central.com website, to help you and others decode the factory stampings on your cars and light trucks from this era. Shoebox-Central is a GREAT place for parts and service. Hope to see you posting over there soon as well as here on the HAMB, and good luck on your ride!! mr50s
