1950 GMC 1 ton wants a small block

    I want to small block my 1 ton but want to keep it stock looking. I know i got to change the ****** x member I got that and a bell for the 4 speed. the pedals have me scratchin my head is the block going to get in the way of the brake? I think the clutch will be ok. anyone done this or got good pics of it?

    people have been puting sbc in these trucks for 50yrs. the problem area is the manifold/stg gear. i think you can get around this with the block hugger hedders. years ago a 55 265 manifold was the answer.

    thanks ODT i know all about the steering box deal my brothers 54 1/2 chevy when it was sb he had a 80 something camaro short header for the p*** side on the driverside dumper out in front of the axle then ran back.

    Other than the steering box issue, it's an easy fit. I put one in my stock 53 and it was no problem. There are exhaust manifolds from the 78-82 Malibu that work also, since they rise up and forward like the 265.
