In the case of these cars, that would be the custom look. There's a whole (long) thread on 49 -51 Merc customs.
Hoses are cut to length by you. The screw clamps don’t work as good as these in my opinion. the lowering will be easy to figure out what’s done on a lift. Look for spacers under the front coil spring mount on the lower control arm. Collapsed coils if torched. The back could be missing leafs or a lowering block. Mercs look great chopped. There are a lot of bad chops. The Merc on American Graffiti is the poster child for a bad chop. Study it, don’t repeat it.
First up that's a Great looking 50 Merc If I had it I would leave it I have a lot of Chopped Merk's & the 50 merc. in my avatar is not Chopped & I could have had it done but I didn't. The only thing I have done is to put a SBC in it I left the Drum Brakes the Work Great & the Merc weight is 35 hundred Lbs. Just my 3.5 cents
I put this Chevy Engine & Trany in my Merc. in 47 years ago when my 63 Chevy Impala was hit head on & Bent the Frame The only thing that was good was the engine & ****** & a few other things 327/300 hp with the Powerglide Trans. Just my 3.5 cents Live Learn & Die a Fool
