I just bought a 49-50 Mercury Tank for my 50merc from YOGIS, which is made by TANKSINC. pulled it out of the box and I doesnt fit ? The length of the tank is to short by about 3 inches. Has anyone ever bought one of these for there Merc and had the same problem. It says factory dimensions, factory capacity, but it sure as hell doesnt fit my frame. What a bummer to come home to a new tank that doesnt fit. I chunked the other tank because it was leaking about a year ago. Is there some kind of adaptor that is suppose to go from the tank to the frame ?? Im at a loss here about the whole thing...............PISSED............. any advise would be helpful.

    Thanks Fellas

The obvious - call Tanks and find out if there are some brackets you are missing or if they have had any trouble fitment wise.

Just doesn't sound right. Factory size and specs, should mean it just drops in. I'd be pissed too!!!

Buildingit, please report back whatever you find out. My Merc is going to need a new tank, and although it's probably off in the future when I'll actually buy one, I'd like to know what the deal with the aftermarket tanks is.

    Hey,

How's the metal thickness on the TANKSINC product? Is it as thick or thicker than OEM or like that "chink-crap" the Mustang tanks are made from?

its pretty rigid. doesnt have the drain plug in the bottom which kinda sucks. got mine off ebay for 225 and free shipping. if it wasnt for that Yogis was the next cheapest. its definately alot better than my old one that looked like swiss cheese!!

Ok so, I ended up welding in a 1/4 in plate of the frame and reinforcing it with another verticle piece. It worked like a champ, everuthing lined up nice. I did go back and find a pic of the old tank in the car before I trashed it and it looks like there was a bracket from the tank to the frame, that I must have thrown away with the old tank. If your saying yours bolted right in, then Im guessing someone had to have done some fab work back there in that area. Oh well, shes in and got here fired up, doing the brakes now and then the fuel lines, then the body goes back on. Thanks for all the input fellas !!!
