Good morning everyone…Does anyone by chance have a picture or can please shed some light on installing the 6x9 in the dash underneath radio? My ‘50 never had a speaker so I am trying to get a sense of how it installs. Based on my mock up, I’m not seeing how it securely bolts up in there. The threaded bolts in the dash do not seem to line up with the holes on the after market 6x9 speaker purchased from Retrosound. What am I missing here? Is there a specific 6x9 I should be looking for? If by chance you can steer me to an installation manual or guide, that would be kindly appreciated. Thank you in advance for the assistance. Stay safe, blessed, and be well.
Hmm, I’ve definitely considered this however most stuff I’ve read and searched indicates a 6x9, but surely I can look at a round speaker. Thank you for replying. I appreciate it.
The OEMs use proprietary-sized speakers in most applications, so a 'common' aftermarket size won't be quite right. Best bet will be to build an adaptor ring that fastens to the dash then attach the speaker to that. I doubt very much that you'll find any 'bolt-in' speaker unless you can track down a NOS one that's still any good. Even then, it's impedance will probably be wrong for your head unit.
Good morning. Great. Yes, from the take of the many threads I posted this question to, pretty much that’s been the consistent solution. Thank you kindly for your input.
