Ok, been building cars for a while but need to pick old timers brains. I know a mercury wheel base is 118" and a ford is 114", track width is different also. Can I put mercury front a arms on ford to fix this and can i just move the rear springs for the wheel base? Would like to build ford frame and just mount the mercury on it. I've put them on late model frames before but would like to stay stock just lower on this one. Lets hear it and lets see it. Thanks

What's wrong with the Mercury frame?

  3. Mercury Frames and Ford Frames are as different as Studebaker and Oldsmobile of same years. I would be the last one to tell you it can't be done but I'd be the last guy you'd talk into doing it for ya. I own a 50 Merc and 2 51 Fords. I've had the body's off the frames on all 3. Your talking two different worlds there.

Thanks. Have both cars myself. I knew better than trying to make life easy lol. Just never had both frames bare at the same time.

Nothing wrong with frame. Just thought I build one and slap the body on.

You need to remove the body to swap them, so just build the Merc frame while it's off. You don't know where to mod the ford frame to make it a bolt on right?

  7. Since you want to stay somewhat stock, how about finding a Merc parts car and snagging the frame.
