Chopped 1950 Mercury project. This Merc was chopped by custom legend and West Coast Kustoms Hall of Famer Butch Hurlhey and was the last one he worked on before retiring. The prior owner was a local NFL player who started with a nice clean coupe and had a local shop attempt to chop it. They soon realized they were in over their head and the car sat for a while until the owner lost interest and I acquired it. I then took it to Butch's home shop in Shasta where he proceeded to re-chop the car, french the headlights, remove the door handles and smooth all the trunk and hood trim. Butch also shaved the gas door and rain gutters which he was known for. All new flat glass was cut and installed including new rubber, felts and most importantly the stainless window trim, All inner window and glass trim was chopped and fitted as well. True to Butch's style he also removed the rear body reveal under the back glass to have a smooth transition from roof to trunk. This car is definitely a project and needs body work, interior, drivetrain yet only has surface rust as seen in the pictures, Floors and trunk are solid as well. I have both front and rear seats, bumpers, 2 sets of wheels, grill, radiator and many other parts. Car has no motor or trans and needs to be towed. Will make a great custom along with being the last Merc that Butch chopped. Butch's builds include the Midnight Sensation 51' Merc, Harold Olsen 48' Chevy, Rebel 51' Merc, the Curley Tremaine Merc (we pretty much cloned his chop but with straight posts), Pac-Man and Mork & Mindy show cars and even the Charlie's Angels van plus many others that came out of Rod Powell's Salinas shop. Butch literally was the star in 2 books about how to chop tops. Google Butch Hurlhey and learn much more about this metal craftsman. Own a piece of custom history. Clean title on Non-Op. Asking $18,500. 650-587-8762
