I have searched, but cannot find much info. What do you guys think about this car ?

Oldsmobile Rocket 88. This is a beautiful, original type Oldsmobile that has been well cared for. Engine is believed to be original - it is 303 cu.in. with correct carb and breather. Engine starts easily and runs extremely well - very smooth. Transmission is the hydramatic that was rebuilt by previous owner and operates as it should. Also by the previous owner was new fuel pump, new brakes, new battery, new striker plates on all doors. Mileage shows 76000 and appears original. Re-upholstered gray seats and door panels with black carpeting. Headliner is original. Dash is original and excellent. Original radio plays. All gauges operate - gas gauge is tempermental. Paint is black and absolutely beautiful. Bumpers and grill are near perfect. Stainless items good - some pitting on vent window frames and rear fender spears. Car drives very good. Front end was just realigned. There are no problem rust areas. I would rate this car as #2.

Gosh that brings back memories; a friend of mine drove one of those in high school, a black 50 88 4 dr.

The latest (June 2008) OCPG values for a 50 88 4 dr are as follows
    1. $24,000
    2. $16,800
    3. $10,800
    4. $4,800
    5. $2,880
    6. $960

Lean against either rear quarter & rock the car sideways, listen for thumping noise from worn track arm bushings. Those parts should be available now, but were obsolete for many years. Original Delco shocks are usually worn badly - they were seldom serviced. Tube shocks are usually added, retaining the stockers in front for obvious reasons.
Many '50 Olds 4 doors were a junior high or high school kid's first car ... had probably the best heater ever installed in a production car ! Dual pipes, 2 coils, 6.70 x 8.20 rubber, & a set of Starfires ... and loose the sunbonnet ...
