I picked this car up about 6 months ago, I'm wondering if anyone else has done one of these cars in a mild custom. I plan to get it lower, with a huge frame notch and probably add a very slow hydraulic setup to make it adjustable. I like the idea of old slow hydraulics better than bags, just a personal opionion. I would like to leave it Pontiac, with the trim in place and the stock flatty 6 under the hood. I have been thinking of adding some spotlights, a visor, and flaking the roof out. I like traditional customs, but this car has too much cool stock trim and decent lines to start cutting it up. I think a mild treatment would do the trick and make it stand out. Let me know what you think, and post pictures of other examples if you have any. Thanks

You want to make it LOWER?!?
There are a few mild kustom '49-52 Pontiac coupes running around and they always look good to me. Go for it.

Not much to contribute, other than to say I think the stance is perfect!

I'd settle for some skirts, remove the name badges on the front fenders and the gas filler bric-a-brac, paint it a dark solid color (I'd choose a red/maroon), black and white tuck and roll and be done.

Option #2 would also include flush frenched headlights, (or better yet, later model Olds grafts, or even '55 chevy) shaved door handles, removing the bumper guards, and WWW (when the time comes.) Maybe a set of blue-dots lenses (from night Prowlers).

I'd also explore milling the head, splitting the exhaust, and adapting a bigger carb, for a little more grunt and growl.

Yes I want to make it lower! That shot is the car in it's current condition. I took a 1 and 1/2 turns out of the front coils, it has 3" blocks in the rear with 5 leaves pulled. Basically the rear sits like 3/4" off the snubbers sitting still, and it needs to really drag *** when I want to set it down.

Here's my 51 - similar color as yours. I've got the Fulton visor it so it gives you an idea of what yours would look like. Winter plans include new drive train and lowering it as well.

If your gonna go lower than you are now, I would think about baggin it. I raised the front of my 48 poncho cause I was havin a hard time with driveways and some parking lots.

Going lower is the future plan. If I can come up with the money to do it I'll put an aircraft hydraulic setup in it. I like juice over bags.
