I used the Welder's Series exhaust hangers to keep everything from moving around. The quality is super nice. I have very little room for clearance and these are keeping the pipes in place very well. I'm m going to wait until I have a fuel tank in place before I finish the post axle exhaust routing. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
These at just tacked for now. I ran out of time and will fully weld them ASAP. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Or did your means s***ch weld (burst...burst..burst)? I have been s***ch welding them. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Nice progress Devin. How is the clearance between the exhaust and the tailshaft? I'm sure it is fine but it looks tight in the photos. Photos do tell lies though! Keep it up mate.
Thanks! Real tight! About 3/8". I cycled the suspension from lowes to highest and there is no interference. Only time will tell how this will work. I'm trying to tuck the exhaust up tight to avoid scrub line issues. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Work has been crazy and coupled with the rain. All I've been able to do is finish welding the exhaust tubing. I pulled the engine and am getting ready to dis***emble the ch***is, do some final welding and then powder coat ir paint the frame and suspension. Wish I could get more done! Hello Devin, forget the rain, and keep on doing good work. I really want to see this Chevy finish one day.
Hi Devin . Glad to see your still plugging away on the old girl. One step at a time and before you know it its cruizeing time! Just don.t turn it into a job! Take's all the fun out of it!! Larry
The wheels are wheel vintiques 15x5s with 3.5" backspace. I can't remember the model# off the top of my head. The tires are Firestone wide whites. I bought them from performance plus in LA. Super customer service, good price and very fast shipping. Would definitely recommend these guys. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Every time I think about strapping dynamite to my 1950 I just look at your thread. Every Single piece has rust on it Floors - floor braces -inner -outer rocker - the whole trunk area like yours- bottoms of the doors are rusted out. When I saw this post I was like wow someone has one that's completely rusted out lol Good work on your car looks awesome thanks for posting the pictures.
Haha. Thanks!!! I can't wait to get back on it. Work has been crazy. Your ride looks great, the chop is spot on! It's motivating to check out everyone else's builds, keeps us on track. Happy holidays Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
love you project, where did you get the rear fender panel? i have searched and only found the bottom part of the quarter panel
It was a NOS piece I scooped up off of eBay. Worth taking a look as they pop up from time to time Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Can't believe I somehow missed this thread. Your doing a awesome job on the old girl! Keep it up. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Just found your thread, looks nice!! One question (maybe just the first in a looong line), why the x-pipe? Torque, power or just sound? On v8s I´ve seen them often but more rarely (?) on sixies.
Thanks for the kind words guys. As for the X pipe; it's probably not traditional nor is the sound, but from everything I read when researching exhaust systems I'd be leaving free horsepower and torque on the table not using it. Might be a bunch of ********, I don't know. I figure if I don't like the sound, it would be pretty easy to replace with tubing. I really need this rain to stop and a break from work! Haven't touched the damn car for a long time. Can't wait to get cracking on it. In the mean time I've picked up a Kaiser bumper overider and some Pontiac shark fin belt mouldings. Holy ****! I just logged in after being out of the loop for a while. I have been busy opening a couple restaurants so I have not been able to work on the car for a while. I have been really anxious to get back on it and will certainly provide updates once I do. I hope everyone is doing great! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
