Is there anyway to save this long thread? I'd really like to keep all these covers for future use and I know they will disappear in the near future? Thanks, J'Mike
I do not know how to save the whole thread but if you right click you can save the image to your computer.. as in these neat interior images were on the HAMB posted by Mazooma to a previous similar thread on old comics + Scot Jackson in The Flying Thingie Pt1 by Jack Keller + Constant Loser
"Hot rods for Civilian Defense" ! The article must have been how to chase them Kommies with your Deuce.
Educational comics were rare ..& back when we were smarter than Dad.. a later Badger cover, some older Patsy humor .
Clint Curtis and Hot Rod Comics were great! I always thought that whoever drew them was quite knowledgeable about car stuff.
]P Exciting early PULP covers. I don't remember drive in car hop girls looking like that in our town ?
Yeah....heard about Frazetta as well....died of a stroke at the age of 82. Arguably the best fantasy artist ever....certainly was a big influence on me. RIP Frank.
Glad to see his Conan painting brought a million dollars during his life time. Not bad for starting out doing comic strips & fantasy magazine art. also random comic panels by others
He ghosted for the Lil Abner strip in the 50's..... he would pick up a geo. bridgeman book and draw all the pages in a day.perfectly....I also believe he was a very gifted athelite and could have went into pro baseball..... I am really glad the path he chose.... simply the best RIP.
I had paper route in the mid 50s and remember always checking out Daisy Mae when delivering the Sunday paper with the color funnies on top. Lil Abner The Frazetta Years strips were reissued by Dark Horse Comics 2002 Road Hog by Jack Keller The Day of the Cat Pt 2 by Jack Keller
I really enjoyed the Iron Man movie and would recommend it. My wife liked it as well which surprised me as she always gave me a hard time about buying Marvel comics in the 60s. Tony Stark (Iron Man) back then was a rich guy and was into expensive sports cars not hot rods. Also a pin up of Pepper Potts .The real Marvel comic book hot rodder was a Member of the Fantastic Four . He was Johnny Storm (the Human Torch ) & appeared in issue #1 Aug 1961. + unrelated Twins' Trouble 1967 comic story
This is the most in-fucking-credible thread I have ever seen on the HAMB.........just amazing and truly unbelievable!!! Thank you so much to everyone who posted these great pieces of comic art..........I never saw any of these when I was a kid, and I was a kid in the '50's.........I guess they never got distributed as far as my little town...... I am awestruck.........I need to go catch my breath.....and rest my *right click* finger!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! CB
77 Sunset Strip.. Kookie Kookie lend me your comb. Smash Up hot rods , Archie with his jalopy and giving mechanical advice.
early Spirit by Will Eisner,Terry & the Pirates by George Wunder. later comic art.. Mind Game by Rob Walton,Rogue Satellite by Atkinson & Riley,American Century by Marc Laming & Warren Pleece
