My attempt is to assemble images and pass on information relating to hot rod, custom car, antique/classic, & racing vehicles comic art and movie poster/still photos from the past. I long ago sold off my collections and stock . I wish that there still was a market for sequencial art (comic strips & comic books) featuring car art. There certainly is enough talent from the artwork I've seen posted on the HAMB Friday art show to produce it but I'm afraid that the demand is rather limited. I'm sure there are other illustrators who would like to achieve the sucess of Frank Frazetta Scot Jackson in Fast Ride by Jack Keller
Man, I love this stuff! In the wierd universe of comic books, there seems to have been quite a problem with random wheels separating from the car, at the most inopportune time! Pscott
Nice to know that others like this stuff. Here is some old-new art panels + Clint Curtis in Stop Thief by Jack Keller
Very nice art by Eduardo Barreto in John Jones Martian Manhunter American secrets + Chicken Fuzz by Jack Keller
A buddies brother has a full backpiece of a Robert Williams piece. Came out really nice. Car chase scene with a car flipping, just like some of these comic covers. If I was built better I'd get one as a side piece, but tattoos don't look good on soft squishy sidefat.
Reread the first 50 or so issues of Iron Man and only found Tony Stark in sports cars. Janice Cord became his new girlfriend after Pepper Potts married Happy Hogan his pal. + Scot Jackson in Figure Eight by Jack Keller + Scot Jackson in Old Mike's Pile of Iron
Ron Harris, writer/artist; David Cody Weiss, letterer; Archie Goodwin, editor. Set in 1935, the world of Crash Ryan is the world that was predicted in the pages of Popular Science but never quite came true in our reality. lt is a world of super airplanes and giant flying airports at the beginning of the "Air Age." The main character, Crash Ryan, is a pilot who gets caught up in the battle between the good guys, the United Airmen, and the bad guys, led by a masked world conqueror who calls himself "The Doom." There is plenty of action, most of it aerial, and a nicely detailed alternate universe. Harris writes a great story and his artwork is very decent, too. His artistic style is rather old fashioned, which is perfectly suited to his subject. I did think his coloring was a little muddy, though that may have been a fault in the printing. The original story was a four-part limited series, but Harris brought back Crash and Barney in a three part story that ran in Dark Horse Presents in 1990 (issues 44-46). this set of 4 on ebay buy it now under 5.00 original artwork is another story also a few panels of his style but not from Crash Ryan Impossible to Lose by Jack Keller
More great Frank Miller with a Studebaker & Tucker. also a 59 Caddy spaceship in his Lance Blastoff feature + old car romance
Went back and cleaned up a lot of the muddy images in previous posts Bronc Buster by Nicholas Alascia Hemi-Hurricane by Nicholas + Racke
I was wondering if anyone has tried copying / enlarging covers to larger, even poster, size? How big could you get one before it really starts to fall apart? Gary
Phantom Lady, Black Cat & flirting at the gas pump means trouble Scot Jackson in Melon Head pt3 by Jack Keller see post #1233 for part 2 Also 3 automotive panels by the talented Don Heck
You are welcome. I would invite any HAMB illustrator/artist to come up with a current concept/theme with a person or group that might be found at a Rust Revival or Jalopy Showdown type event. Feel Free to post your own concept in a Comic style cover . Maybe your character will be the new Clint Curtis, Scott Jackson, or Johnny Comet Too Fast Too Soon by Jack Keller
This is a comic style cover by Jeff Norwell from last year's Jalopyrama. It is poster sized, click below if you want to buy one...
Longshot question regarding this but does anyone have any comic cover art with a AD Chevy truck on it? I'm looking for a way to work my truck into a tattoo piece and I think this would be really cool.
The race scene in the 9th Lonestar Round Up Poster by Jeff Norwell is awesome! Check out his work in the HAMB O'Dex section 3 thumbnails by Jeff + some random vintage panels from old comic books
