I want to recreate a period looking sign as would have been used on an easel at a custom car show in the 1950s for my Bob Metz built 1950 Buick radical custom that was originally shown in Indy in 1951. Hope to have it at the World of Wheels in Indianapolis in early February. Anybody have any photos of such signs? Color would be great, but black & white or magazine photos will be fine.
There was a post on this exact topic about a year ago, but I can't find it now. There were some great show car display signs. Also try searching for posts on vintage indoor car show photos
here are some I saved ...more about vintage displays than signs per se, but they should help you anyway

There have been other threads... I doubt they were all that fancy, more like Prom art at high school, unless professional sign painters or stripers were involved. Remember it was before word processors or computer typesetting or even stick on letters. While not a sign, the funniest thing I ever heard of was when George Barris had some jack stands wrapped in tin foil under one of his cars. Gary
The barris car was the ala cart, Watson used a 4/4 post on a sign painted by Jefferies. Thing got done with what they had. Now some displays almost cost as much as a paint job. Make it pretty, nice, and simple
