Heres some more pics ,I have no idea but these are older than me . I think these are early Philadelphia modifiers pics .
Kool Post! He's mine, I aimed to the late 50's, let me know what I missed. It's a long wait for spring!
The car above was originally built by a fellow by the name of Bill Kelly in 1948, so it really doesn't belong here. It appeared in The Rodders Journal #15 as you see it complete with it's 324ci Olds engine. It was originally built with an 8BA flathead and at last reports this is the way the current owner is restoring the car.
Here's an "in progress" shot back in '59. Just had the body done in black lacquer and was saving my money to get the fenders painted and a top.
You are correct Bubba. I usually avoid posting pictures of it - rather look at other people's stuff but this seemed like the perfect thread for it. As 31Modelo pointed out this was the 331 Cad powered version of it...probably taken in '50 or 51', it's purple in that picture believe it or not. Here's one more that's a bit older of the same car probably taken in '47 or '48, painted black and flathead powered... car also ran a blown cad at one time as well as an Olds 303 and later 324...saw a lot of action this old heap.....ok back to our regularly scheduled programming..
I think my dad has the orignal caddy out of this thing. I got to pull the pan off and see it the block is notched for that stroker crank!
Wow that would be cool. Bill Kelly said he pulled the motor when he sold the car and put it in a pick-up truck. Was supposed to have had a CT stroker kit in it and as you say the block was heavily notched for clearance. Not sure if CT used to stamp their name on the parts or not. Would be neat if that thing was still around.....
The block is either a blue or green with 3x2's and i think the 81's are chromed i remember clear plug wires i should take a look at it haha
I had to say the same thing three times to make sure somebody heard me... man it's a bitch gettin old !
Man that would be so awesome if that the caddy that was in your car!!! Heres some more I came across....
Cool pics Evel. I was especially interested in the Philadelphia Modifiers coupe..these guys were around in the same era and were rivals of ol' Bill Kelly. When their clubhouse burned down he said he was on the list of suspects. Another Phila. club was the Satans (sic?) Somewhere I have a couple of shots of the Kelly coupe squaring off against these guys (Fiat Topolino ?) at the old Lancaster Drag-A-Way, but they were night drags and the pic quaility is not good......
