I own a 1952 Dodge Coronet. I am looking at purchasing a 1951 Wayfarer or Meadowbrook, the owner isn't certain what it is. I am looking to use sheetmetal from the 1951 on the 1952 and replace as much of the damaged parts as I can. I have scoured the internet and this site and it turns out the (lack of) popularity of these cars is directly proportional to the amount of information that is easily found. The question I need answered is.........are there any differences that I need to concern myself with between the year difference and model difference? I am pretty certain that the front bumpers are different from 1951 to the 1952, but all of the sheet metal looks the same. As for the different models (Wayfarer, Meadowbrook, Coronet), I would imagine it would just be options and possibly some exterior trim pieces. I would appreciate anyone that could help me out or at least point me in the right direction.
That being the case, it's safe to ***ume the mystery car is NOT a Wayfarer......they were only 2 dr Roadsters, Business Coupes and semi-fastback sedans. I kind of doubt there is any difference in even the bumpers.....maybe the bumper guards....but so far as I know, a '51 & '52 are virtual twins in almost all respects. Ray
I think I remember that the rear spears on the fenders on one year engage the tail light and on the other year stop short. I am doing a 51 and have been using 52 parts with no conflict.
Fantastic guys. I am looking to pick up the donor car this Sunday. He did confirm it is a Meadowbrook. It is going to be a long trip, but I hope it is all worth it. You may be correct on the bumper guards as well. I will add some pictures to this thread once I get both cars together. Hopefully next time someone goes to search, there will be something visual for them to compare.
the wayfair is the only one that,s driffrent only the front clip is the same but they are only 2 drs this is cowboy vinny,s 52 with a 360 4 sp great car
