1951 Buick... dashboard

    how about some details... my Buick was originally 3 on the tree, so when i converted it to auto (700R4 w/ straight 8 motor) it didnt have an indicator for the gears. scored the parts off e-bay but they are not meant to go on my column or shift rod. so i drill and tap so that the indicator is fixed to the shift rod. the chrome piece with the gears was easily mounted to the column with stainless button heads.

    now for the detail, most early American cars had this order for the gears ( P N D L R ):

    so i had a new clear plastic piece made with the correct gears ( P R N D L ) and the letters are engraved, also had the housing chrome plated:

    also painted the indicator gloss black with a white tip like stock, so in the end i have a stock appearing part that serves the same function in a custom application:

    Great attention to detail with the shifter and the dash turned out pretty neat. Also I love the exterior of the car man.
