Mr. TylerDurben, that car looks absolutely amazing. I think 2" was a perfect amount and I can't wait to see it finished and put back together. Restraint is what lacks from a ton of chops I think and to me it's one of the most important attributes a builder can have. Classy and Classic my friend.

couldnt agree with you more. some of my friends said 1 more inch. nah.

your coupe is fine the way it is! enjoy the vert!

    thank you!

the back glass is coming soon. i am eager to to see how the back glass turns out. hopefully the car wont fight me too much.

thanks everyone for all the comments!

so today i accomplished some more. none of which is "finished" but it gets me to the next step which is closer to being "finished".

cut the door tops to make them longer. found that there are no pieces with the same profile. so i had to use the closest piece and will later have to add the raised lip to it. should not be to difficult to do...

welded back on the door. it fits quite nice. the door needs some adjusting so the gaps are not all equal. that will be handled later on though...

also got the rear quarter window radius's welded in. found some lead on the driver side, so i did the best i could and will have to go back to it later as well. at lease all 6 roof supports are welded in place...

profile shot with door tops and rear quarter windows complete. i am really excited about the overall look. cant wait to wrap up all the rough work so i can go back in and hammer out some details...

and a quarter view cause now the pics are starting to show it more how i see it in person...

tomorrow ill try and wrap up the A pillars so that i can start getting the glass cut and reinstalled!

    thanks again Ant!

so a quick update for the night. was my buds b-day so i had to cut it short today.

got did some minor welding and lots of blending...

got the driver door far enough for some black spray paint (i will be painting the car one day so i dont want to wast a lot of time, just want a solid base for when that time comes)...

also got the doors' garnish moldings welded up...

measured out the glass for its cut too...

tomorrow (or today?) ill get the other door up to black spray paint and hopefully the B pillars to match. i want to see it all in black so i can focus on the back glass a little better.

    see ya!

That car is perfect....Anymore of a chop would have thrown it all off..

Nice, I think your patience is making all the difference, and your restraint. I usually don't think they need a chop, but a mild one can be really cool.

The way that this is coming out looks perfect. The balance between the upper and lower parts of the car are just right. And the big thing that I see in this thread that a lot of people don't do when they chop or section something.......is taking yourtime and having a lot of patience! Great job.

thanks for the kind words everyone! i am loving my car more and more :D patience is key. i am setting goals and doing my best to meet them, never sacrificing quality for speed though.

close up of door top, i had to make the raised area from when i extended the top back...

close up of door front & A pillar drip rail, its just about seamless...

began prepping the windshield for its haircut. i plan to do it myself...

the ladies that keep distracting me and my windshield just about ready for its trim...

    thanks,

    Yaril,
What did you have to do to make the extension for the door top?

nah, i just like cars more than others.

tell me about it. im the 3rd owner.

took the door post and added it to the top, had to make the raised metal area though. the front door post that has the raised area just did not have the same contours.

ok its late ive had a long day and got a few more to come. gotta wrap this up to get back to making money!

sorry for the dark pic, its the inner C pillar, i redid some inner structure and skinned the face. will go back later and blend it as well...

working the roof, doing my best to match the 2 halfs...

its not bad at all, still will require some more work...

rear quarter view, the rear glass moved forward about 3" which is great cause i plan to later extend the rear fenders slightly in a slope, ive always thought this car had too short of a trunk...

got the glass centered as can be, measured about 15 times both outside and inside the car...

notice i lined up the belt line trim, ill have to later modify it to contour and trim it at the front. this was one of my goals that im glad to see im meeting. also notice how the drip rail falls right into the back window trim, lots of times these type rear windows end up under or just at the belt line trim after a chop. i like to keep the car appearing stock...

    thanks again!

i have found 2 or 3 spots where there seems to be some lead, not sure if it was factory or after the fact. i was assured by the PO that the paint on the car was factory. the majority of the lead is on the driver side C pillar. does anyone have any idea what i can do about this? i do plan to (in the future) get the car blasted and do lead work. would this old lead need to be removed first?

thank you guys! i really looked long and hard at this car for a couple years planning out how i wanted it to look. i am headed in that direction and some areas are just falling into place better than i expected. i hope to drive it this Saturday to a local meet.

Scotch! this car has come a long way and still has a lot more since we first spoke huh. fastback chops are another animal all together.
