Got excited when my lower control arms arrived today. Until..... I opened the package and one of the bushings is missing!!! Minor setbacks. http://
Looking good so far! Not that it matters to you now, but centerline of the axle should be 2" behind the spring bolt. Regardless, In the end, if it looks good, it is good.... Aftermarket lowering blocks aren't really made to work on '37-54 chevies, you have to make your own because the aftermarket ones don't have any material in the right spot for you to drill the more forward hole needed to capture the spring bolt. I hope you are certain of the frontend placement. I always leave the body on the frame and be able to install the front fenders to check wheel postion before fully welding it in....
Thanks Snarl. I think I have all of my measurements right. I also got the bushing situation resolved. Gambino went out of his way and shipped me some control arms from his shop. They are on backorder from fatman fab. Somehow a bushing was missing. Anyway Gambino and Fatman Fab are great. A new bushing is on the way. Great customer service thanks.
Assembled one side last night. I will get the other done when the replacement bushings come in the next few days. Gotta make a call today and find out if it is normal to have to grind the backing plates so they will mount to the spindles. The radius around the mounting bolt hole is too wide. Trying to round up a 350 transmission this week to replace the t-5, and I will start on the new K member and the 4 link. http ://
Went and picked up a transmission tonight. He said it only has a few hundred miles after rebuild he went with a big block and a 700r. Had some amazing trucks and cars in his shop. I will have to do something about the color. Should start work on the motor mounts this weekend. http ://
Also opened the rear diff tonight and found a surprise. Its always the hard way for me. htt p:// Piece of the pinion gear I found floating around htt p://
Got the bushing today. Thanks fatman Fab. Hope to shorten the cups and start working on the rear this weekend. htt p://
For the record I stole that body dolly from you. Thanks. I built it to roll my 53 frame under that 67 cab cuz the 53 is on the roto. That and im 10 pounds of excrement in a 5 pound sack... Nice 51 i have a 51 fleetline also. Sent from my iPhone using TJJ
Your Body dolly looks great. I have been busy the last few weeks trying to get my 51 Ford Panel truck running right. I have made some progress on the chevy and will try to post it in the next few days.
Looks like you centered the notch on the rear bump stock bolt/rivet? is that right? I'm about to tackle my 51 Coupe and the frame is bare and I'm going to get everything setup with the new rear and frontend first, similar to how you've done.
