I am curious as to what stock driveshaft people use for a 51 chevy v8 swap with a turbo 350 trans? I know I have seen it on here before but cannot find it for the life of me. Help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

IF, you used Ch***is Engineering mounts, AND placed them right where they suggested, AND are using the short shaft TH350 trans, AND a Tri-Five rear end with the pin hole drilled 1-1/2 inches forward, then a 57-1/2 inch long shaft will work. Ours came from a full size Pontiac, and is an elastomer shaft (one tube inside another tube with rubber injected between the tubes). It all depends on where the motor mounts are, the length of the trans, what rear end you have, and how it's mounted. What have you measured? Butch/56sedandelivery.

Sorry about half the info . They are ce mounts and located them when they recommended. 350 short shaft and a 69 Camaro rear with conversion leaf springs. I will have to go out there tomorrow and get a measurement. I just recall the info I read was for a factory driveshaft that was used for this style conversion. Meaning Camaro, driveshaft etc....

    Thanks again

68-74 Nova works for alot of hotrod applications like that.

I just go to the bone yard and find a gm shaft that is straight (same diameter) from end to the other and longer than needed then go to whacking.

I found that if you are parting out a 53 Chevrolet 4 door with a big block Chrysler, automatic and an 8 3/4 rear end the driveshaft will fit perfect in a 1949 coupe with a 305 and 700R4 with a 65 Nova rear end provided you use the U-joints you have had for 15 years at least sitting around new in the box from who knows where. use the transmission input shaft that came with the trans.

    that's how I did it.
