I have a 1951 Chevy Sport Coupe which has a Monte Carlo rear end now which really rubs when you have people in the back seat or if I hit a bump. Also, I can't even get the tires off when I jack it up. I'm thinking about putting a 2000 S10 rear end in. What would I need to change to put the s10 rear in? Any mods? Thanks
That sound's like a problem with how much it's dropped. I doubt that an S-10 rear end would fix that . You might need to C-notch the frame or just don't let fat asses sit in back. Seriously it doesn't matter what axle you use the distance from axle to frame will be the same. Now if your tire's are rubbing the fender's a narrower axle will help
I thought it would be the rear because the tires are rubbing on the sidewall and with the shorter rear I thought it wouldn't rub.
when you pull the tires off just take off the bottom of the rear shocks and it should drop the axle enough to take out the tires.
If it's rubbing sidewall then a narrower axle will help. Might be easier to change wheels to some with a little more backspace.
I need some info to help 1. What yr Monte Carlo is the rear from (do you know the width) 2. What is the size of the tire 3. what size is the rim 4. how much room between the tire and rear inner fender Depending on these answers it will depend what your next step is.
