    Yep. The E-Brake is on the transmission on these cars, which makes a different rear end (with provision for emergency brakes) almost mandatory.

  3. The e-brake is very essential to sort out on those cars. Parts are available, I used an old Motors Manual to do one around 1975.

    This was after it had caught fire on a friend's 1951 Dodge.

    The E brake drum on the end of the transmission was the park position. The transmission was basically put in neutral, and the "park" lever on the push button console slid to lock. Then the e brake on the transmission was applied to the restrict movement of the driveshaft for parking.

    The '51 transmissions were not push button. The Powerflyte did not come out for a few years yet.
