Hi All, Despite the current automotive conspiracy theories, B-J auction dramas, and my overwhelming state of house-poverty, progress HAS been made on the "Lincury Project". For those that have been following along, I HAVE been updating my website with progress as I go. Years now in the making... Go here for the latest updates: http://landyachts.homestead.com/mercresto9.html For those of you 'FNG's' out of the 'loop' that want to know what the heck I am talking about, go here- and start off from the beginning; to get yourselves up to speed- http://landyachts.homestead.com/index.html I want to drive this damn thing this year come hell or high water. 8 years is too long to own a car that you have never driven... To all the guys on here that have offered their support/pics/expertise/criticism, etc., I wholeheartedly appreciate it. Had I known then what I know now...I would have done things differently...but I carry on. Live and learn, so to speak. Without naming names and sounding like an acceptence speech- It's the input from HAMBers that keeps me going on such a daughting effort. Stay Tuned! Thanks- Mercman
About damn time ya got that radiator support in! Let me know if ya need a hand. you know where to find me
Looking good...making progress. I've been working like a mad man on my Hudson / Mercury chassis swap too...I've encountered many of the same issues that you have...and like you, I've owned the damn Hudson for 8 years and have never driven it... keep it up brother.
We FINALLY got it figured out...I'll give you a buzz next time we're out in the shop. Next weekend isn't looking too good...Marc's got the DIRTY show next weekend..lol...maybe you should check it out!
This is the first project car that caught my eye when I joined the HAMB. She's coming along great, MercMan... A question? Were you to do the chassis swap again, would you use the Linc floorpans, firewall, etc, or would you consider altering the frame to fit the Merc's stock stuff? Maybe I'm deadassed wrong in this application, but we've shortened wheelbases and put '65-up Galaxie, '72-up Torinos and '77-'79 T-Bird perimeter type frames under Mustangs, Cougars, etc for 30+ years. I've considered putting one of these under my '64 Ford eventually to take advantage of the better suspension geometry. Jan
WOW! I never realized just how lucky I was,to find a car in the condition mine was in. That's alot of work. My buddy SlddnMatt, didn't have to fabricate all that stuff,on mine. You're doing a great job.
I just happened to be going through my favorites today and was reading about your project. Looks good, keep it up.
looking good from here. what are the measurements on that radiator and what year is it out of? im looking to see what will fit in my truck soon. first things first, i need to locate the engine...
Lots of work there, really well done though. That radiator support looks bullet proof with that inner frame. You probably already know this, but close that hood slow over that stock radiator support. I think on mine, the hood comes really close to the tops of that support. Looks like your support is moved forward.
Radiator is for an early (65-up) Mustang with a 289-302. This be the one: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM-380461&N=700+115&autoview=sku We'll see how well it cools.
Mike, thanks for the kind words! We had the hood on, and were astonished with how much room is under there. I don't foresee any issues with it closing/latching.
Lookin' good.Keep on working and it will get done.I got my 50 Merc in 89 and got it on the road in 06.A long time and alot of learning along the way.(I would not do it the way that I did again)
