I'm pretty sure that is not original. I've never seen info about the choke location on the dash like that. Whoever did it made it look decent though. .
Really would appreciate hearing anything you know about the car, particularily the flathead- any modifications done to it etc. Thanks for letting me know about the Merc. club, will keep posting as I make progress but as I said before I'm not the fastest at this.
Wow, These pictures bring back memories. My dad had a 50 coupe...Banning blue I think was the color. He sold it to get married. Whenever he told that story there was always a little remorseful pause in his voice. The Merc I remember as a kid though was his 51 4 door. It was black with the visor a single Appleton wide whites, skirts and overdrive. I have been trying to decide what my next project will be now that my 40 is just about done. I just may try to duplicate my dad's 51. I still have pictures.
I just got my 51 here in Texas in Dec. Nothing is cooler than these cars! Lots of nice people on Hamb to help you out too. Congrats!
We never quit do we? I thought my pick-up was my last one since I've now turned 70 but obviously still have the "itch" to do another! I had to smile when you started talking about a 4-door, my oldest son got one when he was in H.S., drove it for many years and then put it in storage. Now my grandson has who is 15 has the bug and so it is coming out of storage to be rebuilt- of course my grandson thinks it should take 2 months to get it done! Good luck to you.
